Feather File Manager: Privacy Policy

Feather File Manager ("the app") is an Android app by Kilobyte Tools (Anand Kashyap). This policy tells you what the app does with your data.

Summary

  • The app does not collect, store on a server, sell, or share any personal data.
  • The app has no account, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
  • The app does not have the internet permission. Your files and file names stay on your device.

Your files

The app reads and changes files only on your device, and only when you tell it to. It does not send files, file names, or folder contents anywhere.

Permissions

  • All files access (storage access on Android 10 and lower): To show, open, copy, move, rename, compress, and delete the files and folders that you choose.
  • Install apps: To open an APK file that you tap with the Android package installer.
  • Notifications and foreground service: To show the progress of a long operation, such as a large copy, and to let it finish when you leave the app.

Data retention and deletion

The developer does not keep any data from the app, so there is no data to keep or delete on a server. An email that you send is kept only as long as needed to reply, and is deleted when you ask.

The app keeps your settings on your device; uninstalling the app removes them. Files that you delete go to the recycle bin, a hidden .FeatherBin folder on the same storage, and are removed after 24 hours or the time that you set. Uninstalling the app does not remove this folder, so empty the recycle bin first.

Other apps and Google Play

When you share a file or open it with another app, that app gets the file, and its own privacy policy applies. Google Play can collect data about installs and crashes under the Google Privacy Policy. Google shows the developer only summaries of this data in Play Console, such as install counts and crash reports with the device model and Android version. These do not contain your files or file names.

Children

The app does not collect data from anyone, children included.

Changes

If a new version changes what the app does with data, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date will change.
